Jocelyn Anna Lernout

Education and pageantry training

• Jocelyn attended Wilfrid Laurier University and graduated with a degree in psychology while also obtaining minors in English and Religion Cultural Studies
• She has also attended Vancouver Community College, British Columbia Institute of Technology and Langara College of Vancouver while being enrolled in various courses in Music and film studies, Introduction to Broadcast media, and Speech Techniques for public speaking
• Jocelyn currently trains for pageantry. Training includes skill development in runway walk, interview and speaking skills
• In 2009 Jocelyn competed in Miss Vancouver. She was Miss October in the calendar project for 2010 and she also edited the video for the launch party
• Jocelyn was asked to speak on panel at the November 2010 Career Zone event titled ‘Entertainment Industry Panel’ where she shared and discussed her story of what it takes to pursue a dream. Jocelyn has also visited highschool classroms where she shared pieces of her film work and discussed her journey and passion as a filmmaker

Personal and Professional Experiences

Book Project
• Jocelyn is writing a book called ‘World, Universe and a Dream’. A creative book of research, journals and memoirs that connects a story of humanities shared journey of evolving into a world that is now connected through travel and communication technologies. It develops a sense of appreciation for this journey while fostering our own ability as creative people to be inspired and accomplish what we put our mind to.
• The book is accompanied with colorful photos that are part of the research and experience from the writer, Jocelyn Lernout, who has been writing the book while on her own personal journey as a filmmaker and pursuer of representing Miss Universe.
Film Projects
• As a filmmaker Jocelyn has been capturing her life travels on camera since 2007. She has a variety of creative videos that share her journey and the stories she has discovered that have been an inspiration to her own development on both a personal and professional level.
• She is continuing her filmmaking ambitions by working on her song and video performance called ‘The World, Universe and a Dream as a Whitefeather lights the air’. It is her love and ambition to inspire and share appreciation of our multicultural world..
