being open to opportunity and working towards your dreams

So as you may know,
I moved out west January 2009.  Making this move has brought me a world of opportunity.  It really is amazing how life decisions bring us experiences that change our life and can bring us great things when we are open to it.

Before moving out, I was loving life in my hometown in Chatham, Ontario.  I valued new friendships I had made through moving home after university...and it was the right place for me to be at the time.  It allowed me to build the foundations of what I was creating: ideas and visions for JL REALity, United Awareness and United Culture.

It was among these visions that I created the idea of 'journey across a multicultural nation on the way to the common culture of the olympics'.
Christmas 2008, a few days before throwing my first intro documentary party called, 'Into Understanding', I decided to take a ride out to the west coast.
I followed the events in my life that ushered me in that direction, and suddenly there I was....on a journey across Canada....driving through Michigan, breaking down and snowmobiling for a few days, reading 'Awaken the Entrepreneur from Within'.  Then we were off to Calgary where I spent a few days enjoying good meals and the view of the cityscape with mountains in the background.

For the final leg of the trip, I bussed it to Vancouver.
January 2009, I had arrived to the ocean of the west coast.  I began exploring a new city, filming an array of events and festivals, meeting new friends, spending time in majestic nature...making connections that will be with me for a life time.

A few months into living in Vancouver, I was reading the paper (as I do to look for things that may catch an eye), and I saw an ad for 'Miss Vancouver Beauty Pageant'.  I ripped it out and set it in my pile of 'interest articles'.  It wasn't till a few weeks later that I came across it again, pondered whether to pay the $135 admin fee, and take a chance on this interesting opportunity.

In fact, I remember it quite vividly...the decision of whether to do it or not.  During the same weekend that it would occur, my good concert friend in Toronto had invited me to a few concerts.  Tragically Hip and Bruce WStein. to be exact.  I thought about how maybe I could wait till next year to do the pageant.  Maybe this wasn't the year.  Ah ha~!!!

Trust me,
if an opportunity arises that has potential for you to do something with your life, if it sparks an interest in you, Seize the opportunity.  It is your soul's desire to bring you on a path, a journey, a learning experience, and friendships.... connections in your life.

Such as I seized the opportunity to move out west, in the span of 6 days,
I seized the opportunity to be in the Miss Vancouver Pageant. and my goodness, Love.....look where it has carried me to.

xo
to all who have walked in and out of my life,
to all who have been a part of this journey with me,
thank you.
i value your presence dearly
and i am always there for you, any time.

to friends of my earlier years, much love for helping me explore who I was, as JL, as Jocelyn Lernout, as the social butterfly I love to be :)
and to the friends i have met since moving out west, thank you for being there for me during a truly beautiful point in my life, when i have been on a journey beyond my wildest, treasured dreams.  when i explored a new city, a new province, and was given the opportunities to fall in love.  your presence in my life is truly experiences of 'meant to be'....as each connection has brought me ever closer to who i am becoming.
my best self, fulfilling, creating and inspiring dreams of 'supernatural realities'

to all those i am about to meet....all who i will encounter.... and all who desire to say hello
I am here, allways.

much love,

JL
and evermore becoming

Jocelyn Anna
